چکیده

A method of continuous recording of the disappearance of radioactive materials from the circulating blood is described. By cannulation of the right femoral artery of dogs and leading the tubing past a scintillation counter into the right femoral vein a complete circuit is established in which the concentration of radioactivity may be continuously monitored. Curves showing concentration of the radioactive material versus time have been obtained following injection of iodinated (I) plasma, Xa", I", P, R°, and colloidal Au. Xo errors are introduced by sample withdrawal, timing of samples, or geometric variations.

Measurement of the early disappearance of iodinated (I131) serum albumin from circulating blood by a continuous recording method.

A method for continuous recording of flowing arterial blood in humans has demonstrated that injected iodinated (I) human serum albumin disappears at variable rates from the circulation when losses are calculated from a two hour extrapolation to zero time. Losses from the circulation during the ten minute interval following injection were minimal. The recorded disappearance curve inscribed durin...

High predictive value of red cell volume measurement using carboxy-haemoglobin in a rabbit model of haemorrhage.

We have studied the accuracy of blood volume measurements using carbon monoxide (CO)-labelled haemoglobin (COHb) injection and dilution (CO method) by comparing changes in red cell volume (RCV) measured using the CO method and 51Cr-labelled erythrocyte dilution (51Cr method) in a haemorrhage and infusion model in rabbits. RCV was measured repeatedly using the CO method at four different blood v...

Contributions to the Study of Blood Brain Flux Using Radioactive Tracers

In this paper, we present an original radiocirculographic method for investigates of cerebral blood flow, which has proven to be very useful, simple, and efficient for studies of brain hemodynamics. Physical considerations on injected radioactive tracer in cardiovascular system, allowed us to state a relationship for the blood flux, F, valued as the amount of fluid-blood that traverses a vascul...

Investigation of the hepatic arterial "space" under various conditions of flow in the isolated perfused dog liver.

A radioactive isotope dilution technique, in which two radioactive tracers were used simultaneously, was employed to investigate the nature of the hepatic arterial vascular bed or arterial vascular "space" in 22 isolated perfused canine livers. The technique continuously monitored the blood leaving the liver for radioactivity so that no assumptions had to be made regarding the representative na...
